Why buy FERIDIES® Peanuts?

We pride ourselves on the large size, fresh flavor and crunchy taste of our peanuts! This high quality is achieved by hand roasting super, extra-large grade Virginia-type peanuts in small batches in pure peanut oil to maintain the peanuts’ distinctive flavor and healthy qualities. Why did you change your name from The Peanut Patch to FERIDIES®?

As the company has grown over the past several years, we felt it was necessary to "trademark" the brand name of our products. We learned that another company owned the trademark to "The Peanut Patch" - so WE decided to change our brand name to protect the company's future. For over 2 years, we searched and agonized over the perfect name and learned just how difficult and complex the trademarking process is. We were advised that if we never wanted to go through this process again - it would be best to "make-up" a name - just like Nike and Exxon. So we created a word/name that was comprised of letters from the last names of the 3 families that operate the business: Alice & Paul ShafFER + Judy & Bob RIDdick + Jane & Ted FrIES - FERIDIES® (pronounced fur-RID-eez). It's unique - in that no other company has this name and it has special meaning to us. Judy and Bob Riddick started the company in 1973 and today their 2 daughters Jane and Alice - along with their husbands Ted and Paul help operate the company. Our gift shop located in Courtland, VA retains the name The Peanut Patch - because YES - we love that name, too!

Why do I see 2 credit card charges when I only placed 1 order?

When orders are placed on the website or by phone, your credit card is first "Authorized" to verify the card number is correct and funds are available. When the order is ready for processing/shipping, the credit card is "Charged" and the funds are withdrawn. You will continue to see 2 "pending" or "processing" transactions for about 24-48 hours. If after 72 hours, you continue to see 2 transactions, please call us at 866-732-6883.

Are Peanuts Healthy?

Absolutely! Peanuts are naturally cholesterol free, contain 0 Trans-fats, are low in carbohydrates, and low in saturated fat. They are rich in good (unsaturated) fats, fiber and Vitamin E. Peanuts are an excellent source of iron, copper, zinc, potassium, magnesium, selenium, and other nutrients; as well as a good source of protein and folic acid. Research has shown that peanut consumption contributes to a reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. Peanuts are an excellent source of resveratrol, best known for its occurrence in red wine. Research shows that resveratrol may protect against arteriosclerosis, heart attack, stroke and cancer by lowering cholesterol plaque and platelet accumulation in the arteries and by preventing the growth of damaged cells in the body. The average amount of resveratrol in one ounce of peanuts is about the same as 6 cups (or 2 pounds) of grapes.

Do you charge sales tax?

All orders with a billing and/or shipping address in Virginia will be charged a 2.5% Virginia Sales Tax for food items.

When is my Credit Card charged?

What is the CID/CVV2 number?

The CID is a 3 or 4 digit special security code feature on your American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa credit card. CIDs are not raised, so they are not scanned into standard credit card readers, nor can they be stored by merchants. In theory, these numbers are only visible to you. When you give your CID to a merchant, you assist the merchant in verifying that you, the cardholder, are placing the order. In general, it is suppose to help protect the customer against credit card fraud.

How do I guarantee my order will arrive when I need it?

FERIDIES® currently offers UPS and USPS for delivery options. The standard shipping methods should get your package delivered within 2-8 days from the day we receive your order (and depending on your location from VA). We also offer expedited shipping methods such as UPS Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air and 3 Day Select by calling 1-866-732-6883. During the Checkout process, you can select your Shipping Method and request a Shipping Date. The website will calculate an ESTIMATED Arrival Date range based on the Shipping State, Shipping Method and Ship Date you chose. Please review our Shipping page for complete details. If it is important for an order to arrive on a certain date, we recommend you call 866-732-6883 and speak to a Customer Service Representative to ensure you are aware of all your options and possible delivery timeframe.

How do I change or cancel my Internet Order once it has been submitted?

Once you submit your order, you will receive an e-mail confirming we have received your order and asking you to contact us if the order is not correct or if you would like to make any changes. You may reply to the e-mail or call 866-732-6883 to speak to a Customer Service Representative. If you need to make changes, we ask that you contact us immediately to prevent the processing and shipment of the original order. We may not be able to help you once the order has been shipped.

Do you ship to International Countries?

Yes! We ship worldwide! International Orders can be shipped using the following services: USPS Priority Mail International, UPS Standard to Canada, UPS Worldwide Expedited or UPS Worldwide Express. You may place your order by calling 1-866-732-6883 and speaking to a Customer Service Representative. Our website does not accept International Shipping Addresses since we calculate the shipping charges using the weight of the package and the destination country. Orders being shipped to military addresses (i.e., APO or FPO), will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail and can be placed on the website and by phone, fax or mail.

What is an E-Certificate?

An E-Certificate is just like a gift certificate, but instead of being mailed via USPS, it is e-mailed directly to your gift recipient with your gift message, a link to the FERIDIES® website and directions on how to redeem. No shipping charges and no delivery timeframe - the gift is instantly received. E-Certficates must be redeemed on the website.

Are FERIDIES® peanuts Kosher?

Yes, almost all of FERIDIES® products are either OU (Orthodox Union) Kosher Certified or OU Dairy Kosher Certified. OU Kosher is the world's most recognized and trusted Kosher trademark and is a mark of excellence on our gourmet foods. Please refer to product descriptions for more information.

Are FERIDIES® peanuts Non-GMO?

FERIDIES® is the first Virginia peanut company to have several products designated as NonGMO Project Verified. We believe consumers have a right to know what is in their food. We are committed to top quality, healthy food. The NonGMO Project offers North America's only independent verification for products made according to rigorous best practices for GMO (genetically modified organisms) avoidance. The following FERIDIES® products have been Non-GMO Project Verified: Salted Virginia Peanuts, Unsalted Virginia Peanuts, Redskin Virginia Peanuts, Honey Roasted Virginia Peanuts, Hot & Spicy Virginia Peanuts, Sea Salt & Black Pepper Virginia Peanuts, Salted Cashews, Salted Pistachios and Salted Almonds.

Are FERIDIES® peanuts gluten free?

Peanuts are naturally gluten free; however, FERIDIES® is not a gluten free manufacturing facility. FERIDIES® products are produced in a facility that processes peanuts and tree nuts and is prepared and packaged on equipment that may come in contact with trace amounts of Milk, Eggs, Wheat and/or Soy.
